5 white pelicans fishing in Southampton Bay just off West K Street.

1 brown pelican on Little Pelican Island, then 3 white pelicans in flight over the Strait along Port Costa shoreline.

1 white pelican in flight over the Strait, seen from 9th Street / Alvarez Park. A little later, a few more. Then around 8am, at least a dozen white pelicans afloat on Southampton Bay off the far shore as seen from 9th Street / Alvarez Park.

At least 8 white pelicans - probably more - on Little Pelican Island and the mud flats at low tide. 1 white pelican flew east and landed very near shore between First Street and the Marina.

9 white pelicans on Little Pelican Island. 2 white pelicans and 1 brown pelican on Middle Pelican Island.

From a distance (East Military and East 3rd), Vaughn and I briefly saw 8-15 white pelicans aloft over the Carquinez Strait somewhere east of First Street. Then I drove down to the First Street Spit, and saw 15 white and one brown pelican on Little Pelican Island.

5 white pelicans afloat near Dillon Point. One flew off solo to the east, past Port Costa, possibly heading for islands at foot of First Street.

4 white pelicans and 1 brown pelican on Little Pelican Island (foot of First Street).

6 pelicans on the eastern tip of Big Pelican Island and one more on Little Pelican Island (foot of First Street). The one took off and flew low over the water, beyond the Big Island and around back to land on the water between islands. A few minutes later, a 7th flew in low over the water from the East, landed on Little Pelican Island.

5 pelicans on Little Pelican Island off the foot of First Street. A few minutes later, a 6th, then a 7th flew in low over the water from the East, and joined the others. Gorgeous birds!
